The Fellowship is designed as a 12-24 month program. The first year creates a foundation through professional development and leadership building. Applicants will then apply for the second year, where they will use their experiences to develop a community centered project.
Fellows are supported in the first year of their growth through:

  • $1000 towards professional development in FY17/18
  • Optional $2000 stipend for those who apply and are hired as part-time staff with 10 hour a month commitment.
    • Develop and present content
    • Facilitate operations, logistics and communications
  • Mentorship with community leaders
  • Monthly professional development events

Successful school-based candidates will have:

  • A minimum of three years teaching experience by June 2017 (if pursuing leadership roles outside of the classroom) or consistent success in the classroom during the corps experience (if pursuing teaching roles), as demonstrated by submitted data

Successful candidates seeking work outside of the classroom will have:

  • A minimum of two years teaching experience by June 2017
  • Demonstrations of strong leadership over the course of their corps commitment (or alumni life)

All successful candidates will have:

  • Passion for equity and using their skills to have a positive impact on students
  • Resilience to navigate new and ambiguous situations
  • Humility and eagerness to learn
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-direction and a “can-do” attitude
